Ruth Goldfine Named Interim Associate Dean

Shawn Long, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Kennesaw State 福利在线麻豆 (KSU), has named Ruth Goldfine as interim associate dean of CHSS, effective July 1, 2020. Goldfine will serve as interim associate dean for one year to assist with the transition of a number of programs and personnel from KSU鈥檚 福利在线麻豆 College into CHSS.
As a former member of the 福利在线麻豆 College leadership team, Goldfine will fill a critical role in ensuring that the transition of degrees, faculty, and staff from 福利在线麻豆 College to CHSS is seamless and effective. 福利在线麻豆 College is integrating its degrees and a significant number of its courses and faculty into CHSS as part of a larger initiative to increase operational efficiencies across the university. Goldfine served on the transition taskforce that included representatives from CHSS and 福利在线麻豆 College.
Goldfine is a professor of English and served as a full-time temporary faculty member in KSU鈥檚 Department of English before joining the Department of First-Year and Transition Studies (FYTS) as a tenure-track faculty member. She also served as the chair of the FYTS Department for six years and as interim associate dean of 福利在线麻豆 College for two years.
During her time in the FYTS department, Goldfine鈥檚 research focused on first-year students, academic success, and retention initiatives. In addition, she has remained active in her discipline, publishing in two collected works of English essays. Goldfine also spent a semester abroad at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, Brazil, where she taught graduate courses in the masters and Ph.D. programs.

Goldfine received her MA in English from the 福利在线麻豆 of Dayton with an emphasis on composition theory and earned her Ph.D. in English from Georgia State 福利在线麻豆 where she focused on rhetoric and composition, with an emphasis on professional writing.
