Psychology students have the opportunity to participate in study abroad programs. Some of the programs are specifically designed for Psychology majors, while others are open to all majors.

We encourage students to speak with their advisor to ensure the classes they take while abroad will apply toward their degree.

Upcoming Study Abroad Experiences

Italy: Summer Session I in Montepulciano (June 4 – July 4, 2026)

Located in the picturesque, historic region of Tuscany, the Montepulciano, Italy Summer Study Abroad Program allows students an opportunity to take lower and upper-division coursework offered from a wide variety of disciplines. Dr. Ordene Edwards will be teaching PSYC 2258/; Psychology of Adjustment and PSYC 3355: Cross Cultural Psychology.

  • Cost: $5,000 (tuition & airfare not included)

Italy: A Country with Many Cultures (September 18 - October 15, 2026)

Based in the picturesque, historic region of Tuscany, the Italy Fall Study Abroad Program offers students the opportunity to take two psychology courses – PSYC 3355: Cross Cultural Psychology and PSYC 4490: Psychology of Creativity. Courses will be taught by Dr. Sandara Scheier who has previously participated in study abroad programs in 2023 and 2025 and has extensive travel experience.

  • Courses: PSYC 3355, PSYC 4490 (6 credit hours, plus online coursework to be full time)

Past Study Abroad Experiences

The Land of the Rising Sun: Japan Adventure (May 10 - May 31, 2025)

Hosted by Kanda ¸£ÀûÔÚÏßÂé¶¹ in Chiba near Tokyo, this program offerred a three-week stay in Japan to learn about Japanese culture, the traditional and the modern society of Japan. 

Psychology students were able to take two courses that contributed to their degree program: PSYC 3760: Asian American Identities and PSYC 4490 Special Topics: Gender Issues in Japan. Both of these courses are psychology electives taught by Professor of Psychology Dr. Ginny Zhan.

Program Cost - $3,115. Students pay for airfare and tuition separately. The KSU Global Education offers information on internal and external scholarships available to students going on a study abroad trip.
